Lev Platsman , MD 

Dr. Lev Platsman (Class of 2014) is a second-year pediatric resident at Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, New York, where he was named best “Resident/Intern Teacher” in 2015. Dr. Platsman has passed his USMLE STEP, 3 and is currently in the second phase of quality assessment/quality improvement projects. One project involves medication reconciliation, and the other deals with asthma outpatients.

Kirill Alekseyev, MD

Kirill Alekseyev (Class of 2014) was published six times this year including research that appeared in PM&R, the official scientific journal of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R), and in the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery. A third-year resident at the Kingsbrook Rehabilitation Institute in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Alekseyev is active in the New York Society of Pain Management and Rehabilitation as well.

Hemanshu Patel, MD, Ranju Sign, MD

Drs. Hemanshu Patel and Ranju (Ramendeep) Singh are married and recently moved to Apple Valley in Southern California to start their family medicine practices. They both completed residencies at University of Alabama (UAB) Huntsville. While at UAB, Hemanshu was chief resident and won the award for best teaching resident as well as the pediatric and internal medicine award.

  Kevin Tin, MD

Dr. Kevin Tin (Class of 2011) is completing his second year of a gastroenterology fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Tin is also doing a hepatology rotation at New York University Langone Medical Center. He did his residency at Maimonides as well, and has published research extensively, with over twenty accepted abstracts at national society meetings and a published journal manuscript to his credit since graduation. Dr. Tin continues to conduct research and is an active member of several professional associations. They include the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the  American Gastroenterological Association.

Kari Malwitz, MD

Dr. Kari Malwitz (Class 2008) is a fellow in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Iowa. She completed a four-year residency in psychiatry at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri. During her time at University of Missouri, Dr. Malwitz worked as the Chief Resident and Academic Chief Resident and was widely published, most notably in the American Journal of Psychiatry where she co-authored a study on the effects of antipsychotic medications in breast cancer patients.
