Course Offerings

This program is ideal for high school graduates and nontraditional students who are committed to pursuing careers in medicine.

  • Students may complete the program at Manipal Academy of Higher Education or AICASA.
  • The curriculum provides a comprehensive approach to premedical training, emphasizing the development of critical thinking skills

The MD program consists of two components: Basic Sciences, taught at AUA’s high-tech campus in Antigua, and Clinical Sciences, which consists of core and elective rotations that allow students to apply their Basic Sciences knowledge to real-world situations at affiliate teaching hospitals throughout the United States, Canada, and India.
A Basic Sciences Integration Semester (BSIS) taught during 5th semester prepares students for the USMLE Step 1, which must be passed before proceeding to Clinical Sciences.

For many Caribbean medical schools, it takes over a decade to receive these recognitions, but AUA’s dedication to upholding the highest academic standards has not gone unnoticed by government jurisdictions, external agencies, and international accrediting bodies. In record time, the university has become one of the few to obtain prestigious accreditations that were earned after comprehensive evaluations confirmed the extraordinary quality of AUA’s facilities, curriculum, resources, faculty, administration, and student body. As a result of these recognitions and upon passing the necessary licensure exams, AUA graduates are eligible for residency and licensure throughout India, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. These recognitions also allow students to participate in clinical rotations there as well.

Grants and scholarship

Qualifying AUA students from Indian origin are eligible for scholarships of up to $96,000 (USD) to help offset the cost of their medical education.

Indian Rupee Exchange Rate Lock-In

American University of Antigua College of Medicine (AUA) will set a locked-in rate for Indian Rupees (INR) converted to United States Dollars (USD) to protect Indian students from fluctuations in exchange rates. The locked-in rate offered to students will remain in effect throughout their enrollment in Preclinical Sciences with AUA. The exchange rate will be set based on a 3-month average. For students joining during a Fall term, the rate will be based on the average exchange rate from the prior March-May. For students joining during a Spring term, the rate will be based on the average exchange rate from the prior September-November. The set exchange rate will apply only against tuition and related fees billed due at the beginning of each period. All miscellaneous, incidental, housing, transportation, and other fees should be paid in USD. Students who would like to use their locked-in exchange rate for tuition and related fees must remit full payment by the published due date. For questions or further information, please get in touch with the Bursar department.
