Tuition and Financial Aid

Because AUA’s mission is to provide a high-quality medical education that’s affordable, the Office of Financial Aid is committed to providing quality services to meet the needs of a diverse student population by offering financial resources and services to promote access to education and enhance student success by helping you to fund your education at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine.

Our Office awards financial aid to qualifying students and offers guidance through the financial aid process to help you make your educational dreams a reality. Our goal is to help you become successful physicians. Understanding your financial aid options is a critical part of that success.

On these pages, we have attempted to anticipate your questions about the types of financial aid, eligibility criteria, application procedures, and financing options. You will find that we have also included links to useful websites.

If you have questions or concerns about financial aid that we have not covered, we encourage you to discuss them with our office directly by calling us at (877) 666-9485, Option 4 or via email at [email protected].

For questions related to billing, payments and/or disbursements, you may contact [email protected].

  • Financial Aid Services

Financial aid forms and rules can be overwhelming! No worries. We know them, and we are here to help you through the process. Financial Aid Counselors are available to assist students in-person, on the phone, and online.

    Financing Your Medical Education

Our students finance their medical education through a variety of ways, including scholarships, payment plans, and Federal Direct student loans. We provide a variety of financial literacy, debt management services and strategic budget planning, which are designed to support your decision-making from the beginning to the end of your training as well as through the repayment process.

While there are limits in the amounts you may borrow from the Federal Direct Student Loan program, it is possible to finance the entire cost of your medical education through additional Graduate Plus Loans, as long as you do not have an adverse (a poor) credit history. We recommend that you check your personal credit records prior to entering medical school.

Many of our students who borrow also receive institutional scholarships to reduce reliance on debt. Financial need is not a factor in admissions decisions and the Office of Financial Aid works hard to assure scholarship distribution policies that minimize the possibility that admitted applicants’ socioeconomic backgrounds might adversely influence their matriculation decisions.
