medical council of india

Recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI)

After a comprehensive review process, AUA became one of the few Caribbean medical schools to earn recognition by the MCI, the governing body that ensures medical education programs and the qualifications they award graduates meet the highest standards. It evaluates schools in India and internationally. AUA is proud to have met the MCI’s strict set of criteria and sees this as a major advancement in its mission to educate doctors who will go on to serve their communities.

AUA is listed on MCI’s website. To access the listing, select “West Indies” from the drop-down menu.

UK’S General Medical Council

UK’s General Medical Council (GMC)

The General Medical Council (GMC) helps to protect patients and improve medical education and practice in the UK by setting standards for students and doctors. The GMC supports them in achieving (and exceeding) those standards, and take action when they are not met.

Based on a review of AUA’s curriculum by UK’s General Medical Council (GMC), any doctor awarded a primary medical qualification from AUA will be able to apply to sit the PLAB test and for GMC registration, without having their qualification individually assessed. Read more at
