American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine donated multiple medical devices to the Antigua & Barbuda Airport Authority (ABAA) to improve emergency health care at the new terminal at VC Bird International Airport.

Director of Emergency Medicine Training Centre & Clinical Simulations Vernon Solomon presented 10 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to airport officials. Minister of Aviation Robin Yearwood thanked AUA for the donation and stated that the devices will help people “feel much more secure” along with the already established medical protocols.

AUA also trained 20 workers at the ABAA and 28 from the Airline Association to use the device and effectively use cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid techniques. Chief Executive Officer of the ABAA Stanley Smith said, “We are always excited to work with strategic partners like AUA and the training they have offered to the staff is welcomed.”
