Fall 2024 New Student Orientation
New AUA med students were warmly welcomed in Antigua for the Fall 2024 semester during New Student Orientation on August 10th and 11th. Supported by residential services and orientation leaders, the students participated in campus tours, grocery runs, and info sessions to help them settle in, creating a buzz of excitement across campus.
Key events included presentations on security, financial aid, and wellness, plus fun activities like a beach social and island excursions. A highlight of the orientation was the alumni panel featuring Dr. Jermaine Rumble (Class of 2021), Dr. Tanya Menard (Class of 2011), and Dr. Ruby Sangha (Class of 2019). They shared their personal journeys from medical school to successful careers, offering valuable insights into the challenges and rewards of the medical profession.
After orientation weekend, Med 1 students spent a week learning about medical ethics, critical thinking in medical education, grit, resilience, and other important topics that serve as the foundation for success in medical school. These lessons will be valuable throughout their journey at AUA. The orientation experience concluded with a lively Student Club Fair, fostering a strong sense of community and excitement for the year ahead.
