The first annual Faculty Excellence Awards were announced last night at the Joint Faculty Meeting Dinner at Curtain Bluff. Congratulations to all of the recipients!

  • Dr. Bharati Balachandran – Preclinical Science Teaching Excellence Award
    • Awarded to a preclinical science educator who has shown excellence in education by contributing to teaching, curriculum development and administration, development of new teaching formats, and use of technology in the classroom.
  • Dr. Srikanteswara Viswanath – Clinical Science Teaching Excellence Award
    • Awarded to the clinical educator who as shown excellence in clinical and bedside teaching and the development of innovative clinical learning experiences.
  • Dr. Chakravarthy Marx Sadacharan – Developing Teacher Excellence Award
    • Awarded to the best-developing teacher for contributions to teaching, curriculum development and administration, development of new teaching formats, and use of technology in the classroom.
  • Dr. Pemminati Sudhakar – Excellence in Scholarship Award
    • Awarded to the faculty member who has contributed the most to the literature in science, medicine or education.
  • Dr. Gorantla Rakesh Vasavi – Developing Scholar Excellence Award
    • Awarded to the junior faculty member who has contributed the most to the literature in science, medicine or education.
  • Professor Lynn McKnight – AUACOM Humanitarian Award
    • Awarded to the faculty member who has achieved excellence in the service of others in the community and on campus.

Dr. Alvin Eden MD was presented with a lifetime achievement award for his 50 years of experience as a Chair of Pediatrics. Dr. Eden is the Clinical Chair of Pediatrics for AUACOM.

Dr. Peter Bell, MD was given the President’s Award for excellence in  service to AUACOM.

Dr. Majid Pathan, MD received a the presidential award for his service to AUACOM.
