Laura Cousineau, MLS – Director of Library Services and EED Assistant Professor
Laura Cousineau, MLS, began her position as the Director of Library Services and Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at the American University of Antigua College of Medicine on October 1, 2017. Ms. Cousineau came from Dartmouth, where she was the Director of the Biomedical Libraries. In the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, she held appointments as Assistant Professor in both the Department of Medical Education and the Department of Medicine. She served on the Academic Dean’s Council, the Medical Education Committee, the Undergraduate Medical Education Leadership Group, and the Continuing Medical Education Advisory Group. Ms. Cousineau led an Evidence-Based Medicine education program in the Geisel curriculum and taught in several residency programs. Ms. Cousineau was the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries’ (AAHSL) junior representative to The Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). She also served on AAHSL’s Assessment and Statistic Committee. She was a Fellow in the 2008-09 NLM/AAHSL Leadership program and a mentor in that program in 2016-17.
Before coming to Dartmouth, Ms. Cousineau was the Assistant Director for Program Development and Resource Integration and an Associate Professor of Library Science & Informatics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). She was also the co-director of the Evidenced-Based Medicine (EBM) Resident Education program in the Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine, with a corresponding appointment as Associate Professor in that department. In the College of Nursing, she held an appointment as Associate Professor and taught in their PhD program. Previously, Ms. Cousineau was the head of the Lilly Library at Duke University.
