A streamlined list of essentials for traveling.
What to Bring
Before traveling to Antigua, make sure to pack the following:
- Light colored, light weight clothing
- Professional clothes
- Sun block
Antigua by Air
There are numerous ways to fly to Antigua. Flights are available throughout the U.S. and Canada to V.C. Bird International Airport, located approximately four miles from campus.
Flights regularly depart from the U.S. on American Airlines, Caribbean Airlines, and United Airlines. Air Canada provides frequent flights for those traveling between Canada and Antigua.
U.S. and Canadian citizens need round-trip tickets, as well as passports valid for six months beyond the dates of departure on the return ticket. Citizens of other countries should contact a New Student Coordinator (NSC) to learn whether visas or other documentation will be required for entry into the country.
Renting a Car
If you plan on renting a car during your stay, remember that you will be driving on the opposite side of the road than you would in the United States. Major car rental agencies are conveniently located at V.C. Bird International Airport. A temporary Antiguan driver’s license is mandatory while on the island and can be easily obtained from rental agents by presenting a valid driver’s license from your home state/country.
For accommodations, Blue Waters Resort offers special rates for family members or guests visiting currently enrolled AUA students.
