At the first World Health Summit, held in Berlin on October 16 through 18, at the Young Researchers Symposium at the #WHS2022. Dr. Peter Bell, M.D., AUA’s Provost and Vice President of Global Medical Education, proudly watched as two AUA students, Nana Konadu-Asare and Ashleigh Bates, presented their research on “Combating Childhood Obesity in Antigua.”

Dr. Bell is a board-certified Anesthesiologist, who has served in multiple medical education leadership roles at AUACOM since 2004. In addition to his academic leadership at AUA, Dr. Bell is well-recognized in the field of global health and has presented internationally on this and other topics pertaining to medical education and research.

The World Health Summit (WHS) and the World Health Organization (WHO) joined forces to organize the world’s leading international, inclusive and inter-sectoral global health conference that will set the agenda for a healthier future. WHS 2022 is the first World Health Summit together with WHO.

Speakers and participants at the Summit included leading scientists and medical professionals, government ministers and civil servants, high ranking officials of international organizations, CEOs from industry and civil society and young professionals and students who, addressed the enormous challenges of global health.
