At the inauguration of the AUA campus cricket field on Saturday, October 23rd, the Combined Schools Under-19 cricket team beat AUA by 14 runs in a low-scoring match.

Vice President of Administrative Services Basil Stuart opened the game, welcoming the team and spectators to the event at the beautiful new cricket field on the AUA grounds. Sports Minister Winston Williams, also on hand, said that cricket is “the pulse and heartbeat of the Caribbean people.”

Combined Schools went on to win the toss and batted in the Twenty 20 match on a solid, classic patch. AUA found the going rough despite a strong game.

AUA Dean Dr. Jagbir Nagra of AUA was also present,  as well as President of the Antigua & Barbuda Cricket Association Enoch Lewis, Planning Officer in the Ministry of Sports Ann Jonas, and former West Indies wicket-keeper and batsman Ridley Jacobs.
