The Aspiring Physicians Award

At the heart of American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine’s mission is our commitment to take action against the growing physician shortage. A recent study by the Association of American Medical Colleges predicts that the “United States will face a shortage of between 40,800–104,900 physicians by 2030.” The impact of this deficit will severely threaten affordable and accessible healthcare. That’s why we need more aspiring physicians like you.

Because AUA College of Medicine is determined to be part of the solution, we created The Aspiring Physicians Award, a $5,000 scholarship granted twice a year to outstanding students with a Bachelor of Science degree or currently enrolled in premed or other undergraduate science programs. Recipients are not required to attend AUA, but must have plans to earn an MD degree to qualify for this award. Those that are accepted and enroll at AUA will be awarded $10,000.

Students interested in the sciences should be encouraged to pursue an education and career in medicine. Medical school is a major investment and no matter where you study, we want to help and thank you for choosing this path.

Your community needs you.
