Kasturba Medical College—International Center (KMCIC)

This 2+2+2 program offers students the opportunity to begin their premedical education with two years in India at KMCIC, continue onto a two-year Basic Sciences program at AUA College of Medicine in Antigua and complete their medical education in AUA’s two-year Clinical Sciences program in some of the finest teaching hospitals the United States, Canada and India. Graduates of this program are eligible for all the benefits afforded by Medical Board of California recognition and New York State Education Department approval.

The program begins with two years of intensive premedical course work in India at the world-renowned Manipal University. With over 15,000 students studying multiple disciplines, Manipal is a global pillar of knowledge in a thriving, culturally rich college town. The campus features fully integrated digital learning systems to augment world-class medical libraries, teaching laboratories and diagnostic equipment.

The Basic Sciences portion of the program covers four semesters of didactic education integrated with hospital and patient interaction conducted on the island of Antigua. The faculty employs a variety of teaching methods, including large-group didactics, small-group sessions, clinical case discussions, simulations and hands-on laboratory and patient contact opportunities in hospital settings.

The Clinical Sciences component of the medical education curriculum provides intensive in-hospital experience. This component begins with the Family Practice I/Internal Medicine I section of the Fifth Semester. During semesters six through ten, students conduct their Core and Elective rotations at prestigious teaching hospitals throughout the U.S., Canada and India. This broad exposure to the many avenues open to them in health care allows students to explore various specialties and choose which one they will pursue in their residencies.
