Dr. Richard S. Hannah is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada, where he earned a baccalaureate degree in zoology and his masters of science and doctor of philosophy in human anatomy. In addition to being listed in the Canadian Who's Who, he is also Emeritus Professor, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Hannah's research career includes numerous awards and more than 100 publications in the field of Environmental Toxicology. His research interests are currently centered on the development, production, dissemination and evaluation of health related multimedia programs for use in TeleLearning environments.

 

Most recently, Dr. Hannah, as the Health Science Editor for MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) was instrumental in the planning and establishment of the peer review process for multimedia learning materials. MERLOT (www.merlot.org) is a consortium of Canadian and U.S. Universities committed to improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning by expanding the quantity and quality of peer reviewed online learning materials. As an educator , in the U.S.A. and Canada, Dr. Hannah has taught all aspects of Human Anatomy in both traditional and non-traditional medical curricula.

 

Dr. Hannah is also the author of numerous computer-based multimedia learning packages for the medical sciences and lay public. Administratively, Dr. Hannah has served in numerous positions including Director of Gross Anatomy, Assistant Dean (Research) and Head, Department of Anatomy. He has also been an elected executive member of the Canadian Association of Anatomists.
