Dr. Rao obtained his MBBS degree from Guntur Medical College at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam, India, and his MD from Christian Medical College at the University of Madras in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He was a Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor of Physiology at Christian Medical College, and he joined the faculty of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal as a Physiology professor in 2006. He is the author of some 20 papers, including Clinical Physiology in Medical Education in India.
