The first five Basic Science semesters follow the new paradigm in medical education. All of the traditional didactic classroom and lab work is conducted in modern facilities, and clinical experiences begin at the hospital in the first semester. After students successfully complete the Basic Sciences component, they return to the United States to begin the Clinical Phase their training and take the appropriate USMLE.

The Library is established on the principle that the Faculty and the students should have timely access to biomedical information, and its dissemination.

Students begin their clinical education by attending the Family Practice I / Internal Medicine I program (formerly known as The Fifth semester) which is taught at U.S. clinical sites. This program serves as a bridge between the basic science curriculum and the clinical science curriculum. Presently, students attend one of AUA’s five locations in the U.S.—including Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan and New York.

Students start their clinical education by attending the Medicine 01 semester at one of AUA’s three locations in the U.S. Then students sit for the USMLE Step 1.
