Dr. Lake graduated with Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) at the Atlantic Veterinary College of the University of Prince Edwards Island in Canada in 1996. Earlier in 1988, she graduated with a Bachelor of Agriculture with a major in Animal Science at Nova Scotia Agricultural College at Dalhousie University. From 1997 and 2000, Dr. Lake worked as Relief Veterinarian in Small Animal and Equine Practices in Oregon and Washington States in United States. She provided relief services for regular veterinary practice clientele which included numerous Small Animal Hospitals and Clinics, mobile Equine practices and both Veterinary Emergency Hospitals in the Greater Portland, Oregon and Vancouver Washington areas. From September 2000 onwards, Dr. Lake established the Island Veterinary Services in Antigua whose primary focus is on the promotion of preventative medicine and client education while providing a quality veterinary service to its clients. Dr. Lake has been actively involved with many public community –based activities aimed at improving general awareness and knowledge in the field of animal welfare, animal husbandry and safety, and the promotion of the many varied benefits of the human-animal bond with emphasis on the application of these to improve human health.
